QRawr Blog

A Delayed Farewell

It’s been over almost a year since we launched and unfortunately Qrawr has reached the end of its lifespan. With regret we will be pulling down the service over the next few days.

The team at Qrawr really appreciates everyone that supported us along the way from contributing to our Kickstarter campaign to downloading the iPhone app. We have really enjoyed watching everyone around use the world post their comments and pictures. Thanks for the amazing experience!

Q:I like the idea and implementation of QRawr, but I doubt that many people will additionally download and install an extra app just to leave some comments. It would be nice if this could all be done online. Would be a huge plus.

We completely agree. Unfortunately scanning QR codes and posting photos from mobile devices becomes an big technical problem without native applications that can use utilize the device’s camera. The ability to leave text only comments without the app is definitely a possibility in the future though!

Where did the stickers go!?

As some of you might of noticed, we recently removed our sticker request page. We put the new tag creator in its place and added some basic management features for all the QR codes you have created. As previously mentioned, the tag creator allows you to generate as many QR codes as your heart desires. The goal being you can use the QR codes freely to whatever purpose you need.

We still plan to distribute stickers so keep an eye on this blog and our twitter for more opportunities for sticker giveaways.

The Post Office Hates Us

  • QRawr: I need to mail these envelopes.
  • Post Office Clerk: Wait, how many envelopes do you have?
  • QRawr: I'm not sure, around 60 I think...
  • Post Office Clerk: To what country?
  • QRawr: Umm... all of them?

QRawr Generator!

Over the past few weeks the team has been working on our QRawr code generator. We wanted to provide a way to instantly generate and use QRawr codes without having go through the hassle of trying to get your hands on stickers. It also opens up other non-sticker possibilites like printing them on posters or t-shirts. You could even use duplicate codes to create a larger network connected to the same conversation. You are free to do what you want with them and as an added bonus the codes are free from any sort of branding!

The generator won’t be replacing our stickers, we will still provide the ability to order stickers if the generator isn’t your thing. It’s due to go live sometime this week so stay posted to this blog or our twitter and we will be sure to let you know the moment it’s ready.

QRawr Update

With the surge of interest over the past few weeks, we have been hard at work keeping up with sticker requests and working on both our mobile apps. Yes you heard right, both. The Android QRawr app is under development but it is still too early to tell when it will be ready for release. We will be sure to keep you updated as progress continues.

We also have a brand new feature coming up that we hope will make it easier to get QRawr codes. Keep an eye on the blog for more details later this week.

Sticker Requests!

Wow you guys really like stickers! For the past week we have been inundated with requests from users around the world that need to get their paws on some QRawr stickers. In true startup fashion we went straight to work printing envelopes and stuffing them with stickers for you guys. I for one can’t wait to start seeing all the QRawr stickers start popping up around the globe, cheers!

Whiteboard Example

Use whiteboards a lot? We do. Erasing your last diagram of how to build a homemade airplane or that amazing drawing of a dinosaur is always a sad moment.

Instead, just throw a sticker on the whiteboard. You can take snapshots of your masterpieces and strokes of genius before you erase them. That way you can start drawing the life sized portrait of your cat without loosing that breakdown of last quarter’s profits.
